It’s already been nearly 20 years since the tenor saxophonist Michael Brecker passed away. Alongside Coltrane, Brecker was my greatest inspiration, and his albums Two Blocks from the Edge, Time is of the Essence, and Pilgrimage are among my all-time favorites.
To my surprise, a reissue of his 1996 album San Michele was recently released, and I’d like to highlight it here this month.
