Kályves is an almost extinct hamlet. Of the once almost 100 inhabitants, only a few are left and with the few returned descendants and a few foreigners, there are now actually 15 inhabitants. If you ask, for example, in Kalamáta where Kályves is located, there are very many who do not know or they ask, do you mean Kalúvia or Kalýves?

In 2011, the Greek newspaper Ta Nea published a list of names containing all towns, villages and hamlets, stating under which administration they fall, in which province they are located, at what altitude and how many inhabitants they have/had at different times. following place names similar to "Kályves" for: Kalýva (2x), Kalyváki, Kalyvákia (5x), Kalyvári, Kalyves (6x), Kalývi, Kalývia (70x), Kalyvianí, Kalýviza, Kalyvítis (2x), Kalivití, Kalyviótis and Kályvos (2x). In addition, Kályves is misspelled as Kalýves. It is also mentioned that until 1997 it fell administratively under Kalamata, as part of the village of Prosílio, and now under Khardamyli.

The number of inhabitants was in 1928: 66, in 1940: 73, in 1951: 54, in 1961: 48, in 1971: 34, 1981: 30 and also in 1991. It must be said that even today it is still a It is customary to register in your native village, even though you have been living in Athens for ages. Finally, it is also mentioned that Kályves is located at an altitude of 200 m.
